Christmas Forever

[ Audio File Goes Here ]

This book is a collection of letters written by the author to her parents in West Virginia.  In them she endeavors to share her family’s Christmas holidays with the folks in West Virginia.  From the first letter, in 1947, to the last, in 1965, they present a memorable year-to-year description of the Mackenson family’s Christmas experiences together.

For the author’s family, each Christmas season was somewhat different from the previous ones and, therefore, each was unique in its own special way.  With five daughters and various household pets, the holiday experiences together were always joyful and memorable.

KATHERYN MACKENSON was born in the little town of Hundred, West Virginia, the second child in a family of eleven.  After graduating from the Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing, she joined the Navy Nurse Corp.  While working at the Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, she met John, her future husband.  Although separated soon thereafter, they were united again while both were stationed at Pearl harbor, and a year later they were married in Honolulu.  After the war they returned to John’s hometown, Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, and have resided there ever since.  They have five daughters:  Sandra, Mary, Susan, Charlotte, and Holly.
