On Thursday July 28th, 2011, Atlanta Business RadioX Hosts Dr. Adam Shafran and Lee Kantor were joined in the studio by Norberto “Norbie” Lara and Ray Upshaw, both Tough Mudder “Hall of Famers”.
Norbie Lara joined the Army in 1995. In 2004 he was injured in Iraq. He was in a coma for months and lost his arm. Since then, this Bronze Star recipient has been helping other wounded warriors, like himself, transition to a new life after injury through the Wounded Warrior Project.
During the interview, Norbie talked about how the closing of the Walter Reed Medical Center saddens him. He said the staff was really caring and were truly honored to be providing services to soldiers. It has taken Norbie awhile to get back in shape but that hasn’t stopped him from participating in the Tough Mudder events.
